Malhar Thakar began his cinematic career in 2012 with the drama film "Kevi Rite Jaish". He gained further attention in 2015 with the lead role in the Gujarati comedy film "Chhello Divas", although he initially struggled to make significant headway. Thakar rose to prominence with his performance in the 2016 hit "Thai Jashe", where he starred alongside Monal Gajjar and Manoj Joshi, playing the character Pranav Joshi.
